Thick tree roots; faq about Habersham Therapy in Atlanta

Do you take insurance?

We are both considered “out of network” providers which means we do not contract with or communicate directly with insurance companies. We can provide an out of network insurance receipt, also called a superbill, that you may submit to your insurance company. Some insurance companies reimburse for therapy session fees, but individual policies vary. We have seen an increase in out of network coverage following the Covid crisis; we encourage you to contact your insurance company to gain a full understanding of your out of network mental health benefits.

How much does a session cost?

Our therapy fees are $205/ 50-minute session for individual therapy, and $225/ 50-minute session for couples therapy. We accept cash, check, HSA cards, FSA cards and Visa, Mastercard or American Express. When completing the initial paperwork to begin therapy, we ask for a credit card be kept on file.  We can also keep an FSA or HSA card on file.

Do you offer in-person and virtual sessions?

Yes. We love to meet with our clients in-person when possible. We offer virtual sessions as needed through our HIPAA compliant platform called Simple Practice. This platform can be accessed by downloading an app on your device, then clicking on the link in your therapy session confirmation email.

How long will I be in therapy?

The length of therapy varies by client and is based on both your therapeutic needs and the initial assessment completed by your therapist. Some clients coming for individual therapy may feel considerably better after 6-8 sessions while others choose to continue therapy for months or years. Couples therapy usually requires a minimum of 8-12 sessions and often lasts for 6 months or longer. The frequency of your therapy sessions can vary too, ranging from weekly to every other week, to monthly. However, we often recommend meeting weekly for the first 3 sessions when first beginning individual or couples therapy.

What is therapy like?

Therapy feels different for everyone. Our hope is that the experience is insightful and creates both systemic and personal growth. The connection between therapist and client develops over time, and this therapeutic alliance is important for the effectiveness of the therapy. For the first few sessions, we try and get to know each other while assessing therapeutic needs, goals, and putting together a treatment plan. Carter and Kelly each have a unique style and pull from different theories, training and both clinical and personal experiences. We encourage feedback and collaboration along the way so we can best meet your therapeutic goals.

No Surprises Act

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
  • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
